Who this covers

This policy applies to isaacrothsolar.com and to the consulting, design, and project-coordination work done under the name Isaac Roth Solar ("I," "me," or "we"). It covers you whether you're browsing the site, emailing me a question, or working with me on a project.

What I collect

Information you give me directly

There are no forms on this website. Everything you send me, you send by email, phone, or text — which means you control what you hand over. Over the course of a consultation or project, that typically includes:

• Your name, email address, phone number, and property address
• Your electricity usage — PG&E bills, rate plan, or account history you choose to share
• Details about your home: roof condition and layout, electrical panel, existing solar or battery equipment
• What you're planning for: an EV, a heat pump, a remodel, how long you expect to stay in the house
• Photographs of your roof, panel, or equipment — taken by me during a site visit or sent by you
• Notes from our conversations, so I can pick up where we left off

If a project moves forward, an installer or lender may separately ask you for financial information such as income or credit details. That information goes to them, not to me, and it's governed by their privacy policy, not this one.

Information collected automatically

This site runs Google Tag Manager, which loads Google Analytics. When you visit, Google receives:

• Your IP address, and an approximate location derived from it — typically city-level, not your street
• Your browser, operating system, and device type
• Which pages you viewed, how long you stayed, and what you clicked
• The page or search that sent you here

I use this to understand which pages are useful and which aren't. I can see that fourteen people read the services page last week; I can't see who they were, and I've made no attempt to connect analytics data to any individual.

Cookies and how to turn them off

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site sets them only through Google Analytics, to tell repeat visits apart from new ones. There are no advertising cookies and no retargeting pixels on this site.

You can shut this off several ways:

• Install Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which blocks it everywhere, not just here
• Block or delete cookies in your browser settings
• Turn on Global Privacy Control (GPC) — built into some browsers, available as an extension for others

Nothing on this site breaks if you block cookies. The pages work the same.

How I use what I collect

• To answer your questions and schedule a site visit
• To size a system, model your costs and savings, and check which incentives you qualify for
• To get quotes from installers and compare proposals you've already received
• To file permits and utility interconnection paperwork on your behalf
• To follow up during a project, and to help later if something goes wrong with your system
• To keep records I'm required to keep, and to handle a dispute if one comes up

I don't use your information to build advertising profiles, and I don't feed it into third-party ad platforms.

Who I share it with

Solar takes a number of parties to get done. Here is everyone who might see your information, and why:

• Installers and contractors — to quote and perform the work. They get your address, usage, and roof details, because they can't bid without them.
• PG&E — for interconnection applications and net-metering agreements.
• Your city or county — for building and electrical permits, which are public records.
• Lenders — only if you ask me to explore financing, and only what's needed to do it.
• Service providers — the companies behind my email, calendar, and this website's hosting and analytics. They process data on my behalf.
• When the law requires it — a valid subpoena, court order, or legal claim.

I do not sell your personal information. I do not share it with lead-generation companies or data brokers. If you've ever filled out a solar quote form online and then fielded eleven phone calls in two days, you know exactly what practice this sentence is disclaiming.

Photographs

I photograph roofs and equipment during site visits — it's how I document conditions and remember what I saw. Some of those photos end up on this website or on social media. When they do, I leave out anything that identifies whose house it is: no addresses, no house numbers, no names. If a photo of your project is on this site and you'd rather it weren't, email me and I'll take it down.

How long I keep it

If we talk and you decide not to move forward, I keep our correspondence for about two years, in case you come back with questions. If we complete a project, I keep the records substantially longer — system design, equipment, permits, and warranty documents matter years later, when you have a problem and need to know what was installed and who installed it. Analytics data follows Google's own retention schedule.

Ask me to delete your information and I will, except for anything I'm required to keep by law or need to resolve an open dispute.

Security

Your information lives in ordinary business tools — email, cloud storage, a calendar — protected by strong passwords and two-factor authentication. This site is served over HTTPS.

I'd rather be straight with you than reassuring: I'm a small business, not a bank. No system is perfectly secure, and I can't promise one. What I can tell you is that I don't keep more than I need, and I don't put your information anywhere it doesn't need to be.

Your California privacy rights

California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). Small businesses like mine generally fall below the thresholds that make the law mandatory, but the rights are reasonable ones, so I honor them regardless:

• Know — ask what personal information I have about you and where it came from
• Delete — ask me to delete it, subject to the exceptions above
• Correct — tell me something is wrong and I'll fix it
• Opt out of sale or sharing — there's nothing to opt out of, because I don't sell or share personal information for advertising
• No retaliation — exercising any of these rights won't change how I treat you or what I charge

To exercise any of these, email me at isaacrothsolar@gmail.com. I'll respond within 45 days. I may need to verify who you are first — usually by confirming details already in our correspondence — so I don't hand your information to someone else.

California's "Shine the Light" law (Civil Code § 1798.83) lets residents request information about disclosures to third parties for their direct marketing. I don't make those disclosures.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Browsers send a Do Not Track signal that no one has agreed on how to interpret, so this site doesn't respond to it. Global Privacy Control is the more meaningful one, and where it applies to a site like this, I treat it as a valid opt-out request.

Children

This site is for homeowners and isn't directed at children under 13. I don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent me personal information, email me and I'll delete it.

Links to other sites

This site links to manufacturers, utilities, and government incentive pages. Once you follow one of those links you're on someone else's site, under their privacy policy. I'm not responsible for what they do with your information.

Changes to this policy

If I change how I handle information, I'll update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be obvious, not buried.
