This website is educational. Nothing on it is a contract, a binding quote, or a guarantee of what solar will cost or save at your house. The only numbers you can rely on are the ones in a signed written contract.
Solar economics depend on your roof, your usage, utility rates, and tax rules — all of which change. Treat everything here as a starting point for a conversation, not a promise.

Any actual project is governed by a separate signed contract, and where that contract and this page disagree, the contract wins.
Isaac Roth Solar is a solar consulting business based in Oakland, California, serving homeowners across the East Bay. In these terms, "I" and "me" mean Isaac Roth Solar; "you" means the person using the site or working with me.
It's a place to learn what I do and get in touch. It is not:
I work to keep this site accurate, and solar policy moves fast enough that some of it will go stale anyway. Net metering rules change, incentives expire, equipment gets discontinued, and prices move. Check anything that matters to your decision before you rely on it.
The site visit is free, roughly 45 minutes, and carries no obligation on either side. Requesting one doesn't commit you to buying anything, and it doesn't commit me to taking on your project.
What you get is my honest read on your home, which sometimes means recommending a smaller system than you expected, or recommending against solar altogether. That's the point of the visit. To give you a useful answer, I need accurate information from you about your usage, your roof, and your plans — my analysis is only as good as what I'm working from.

Any cost or savings figure I give you — verbal, written, or in a proposal — is an estimate built on assumptions. Those assumptions include your historical electricity usage, your current rate plan, expected utility rate increases, system production modeling, and current incentive rules. Every one of them can change, and some certainly will over the life of a system.
A few specifics worth stating plainly:
Actual pricing and terms come from the signed contract for your project, not from an estimate or a conversation.
Depending on the project, installation, electrical, and roofing work may be performed by me or by independent licensed contractors I coordinate with. The written contract for your project identifies who is performing the work and who is responsible for it, and that document controls.
Where an independent contractor performs the work, that contractor is responsible for their own workmanship, licensing, insurance, permits, and warranty obligations. Referring you to a contractor I trust is not a guarantee of their work, and it doesn't make me a party to your contract with them.
In California, home improvement contracts over $500 must be in writing, and you generally have a three-day right to cancel — three business days, or longer for some homeowners, including those aged 65 and over. Your contract will spell this out. You can verify any contractor's license at the California State License Board, and I'd encourage you to actually do it — for anyone you're considering, including anyone I recommend.
Panels, inverters, and batteries carry warranties from their manufacturers, and installation work carries a workmanship warranty from whoever installed it. Those are the warranties that cover your system. I'm not the guarantor of any of them, and a manufacturer going out of business is a real risk in this industry — one worth weighing when you choose equipment. I'll help you understand what's covered and help you pursue a claim, but the obligation sits with the manufacturer or installer.
The quotes on this site are from real customers describing their own experience. They're not a prediction of your results. Someone else's savings depended on their roof, their usage, and the rules in effect when they installed. Yours will be different.
The text, photographs, logo, and design on this site belong to Isaac Roth Solar and are protected by copyright. You're welcome to read it, print it, and share links to it. Please don't republish the content as your own, use the branding in a way that suggests I endorse something I don't, or scrape the site with automated tools.

To be clear about what this paragraph does and doesn't do: it's about the website. It doesn't limit any warranty in a signed contract for actual work, and it doesn't waive any right you have under California consumer protection law. Those rights stand regardless of what this page says.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, I'm not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this website or from information you found on it. Where liability can't be disclaimed, it's limited to the amount you paid me for services in the twelve months before the claim.
Some states don't allow these limitations, and California law preserves certain rights no contract can waive — if any part of this section isn't enforceable where you live, it doesn't apply to you and the rest still stands. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or bodily injury.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute over this website or these terms belongs in the state or federal courts of Alameda County, California, and we both agree to that venue.
There's no arbitration clause here and no class-action waiver. If we have a disagreement, my strong preference is that you call me and we sort it out.
I may update these terms. When I do, the date at the top changes, and the updated version applies from the day it's posted. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the current version.
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If I don't enforce something right away, I haven't given up the right to enforce it later. These terms, plus any signed contract between us, are the whole agreement about their subject.
